Why Do We Celebrate Republic Day?

On 26th January 2018 India will celebrate its 69th Republic day. After a long struggle India got freedom from British rule in 1947. On this day president hoist the Indian national flag and take military salute. He also addresses the nation on republic day.
Indian constituent assembly adopted the constitution on 26th of November 1949. Which came into effect on 26th of January 1950 with democratic government system. It made India largest democracy in the world. We also have the longest constitution in the world. It is a significant day in the world history.
In India we can see unity in diversity. People of different religion, culture and society living together with peace and harmony. Every year, on republic day a garland is placed at Amar jawan Jyoti  by prime minister. To commemorate the brave soldiers who had lost their life fighting for India’s independence. After that other celebrations and grand parade take place in Rajpath. All the events happen only between Rashtrapati Bhavan to India gate.


During the ceremony common people, soldiers, students, who have done some exemplary work are honored. President award them bravery awards such as Kirti chakra, Veer chakra, Maha veer chakra, Ashok chakra and Paramveer chakra. Every year when president of India hoist the national flag he gets 21 gun salutes. He also addresses the nation on this occasion. President also takes the military salute as the Commander in Chief of Indian Armed forces in Delhi. In all other states the governor of state take the salute in the state capitals. Every year president is accompanied by two chief guest who are foreign head of state. However in 2018 we will have 10 great leaders of the 10 nations of the world.

Colorful dance programs and various cultural and folk dances performances are highlight of this event. Indian armed also forces perform a grand show in the sky and shower rose petals over the audience sitting at India gate. School children's also perform various cultural dances performances. Indian air force perform fly parade on the fighter planes to honor and salute Indian president. Indian armed forces also perform through motorcycle rides. Military forces also exhibit military equipment's and variety of numerous wonderful events.
All the events are celebrated in a most colorful fashion. Many people watch the republic day parade on their television. People who take part in republic day celebration also sing the National anthem. Republic Day celebrations indeed brings all the Indian people together. It make us feel proud about our country
